The production line just like the products from SMOK are churning out even more hot products at a rate that is becoming difficult to keep up with. Especially from the reviewer’s perspective I can assure you!
Enter the AL85 Kit with a maximum output as the name suggests of 85W and firing down to a minimum of 0.1ohms in VW and (0.06 ohms in TC mode) in a range of colour options that must be seen to be believed.
And to match this performance they have included the TFV8 Baby Tank in either 2ml (TPD Compliant) or 3ml capacities in matching colour schemes to make up the kit.
Impressed? Let’s look in a little more detail and see if its specifications produce the performance required by the vaper who is in the market for something new and just that little bit different.

Tools Of The Trade & Safety Information
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of certain types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to, or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Bang For Your Buck
Small and compact one again like the Q BOX is the name of the game here whilst offering the user a selection of vaping options at the same time.
The AL85 comes with many of the features found in the larger SMOK devices, including all the safety features that we have come to expect from a Company offering quality products at affordable prices, and always with their consumers wellbeing in mind.
The user can choose to vape in Variable Wattage Mode from 1W up to a maximum of 85W or, Temperature Controlled Mode (between a Temperature range of: 200 – 600°F |100 – 315°C) depending on your preferred method of vaping.
The user interface itself is well laid out thanks to new chip technology giving the user easy access to all the menu and submenu structures including, Variable Wattage Mode and Temperature Control Mode in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, with the ability to pre select the type of wire whether it be Ni 200, Ti or SS.
The battery compartment has been placed on top in this model for quick access while on the move and only requires the removal of the cap by unscrewing to insert the recommended single 18650 battery.
Press the power switch five times in quick succession to turn the device on and a further three clicks once the device has been activated to gain access to the top menu structure (Mode, Puff, Setting and Power). From here you can make all the necessary adjustments to fine tune each of the individual settings.
One press of the power button cycles through the available options to you and by holding the power switch in for a little over one second gives you access to that particular menu and any of its underlying sub-menus. You can then use the Plus + or Minus – switch positioned at the bottom of the OLED screen to make any required adjustments to each one of these parameters.
By selecting Power from the top tier menu, you will be able to turn the device off.

The TFV8 Baby tank with greatly improved coils compared with earlier versions in this Sub-Ohm series of tanks, helps to improve both the vapour output while at the same time enhancing the overall flavour.
This is something I have mentioned in previous reviews since their introduction.
SMOK have also included the option of a 2ml capacity version as well as the 3ml to meet with the current TPD regulations.
Thanks to its rotary top cap design SMOK has once again made filling the tank a very straight forward procedure. However, please remember to use the elongated opening adjacent to the circular hole in the centre to fill it.
The bottom airflow system which consists of two wide airflow slots is more than adequate and keeps the circulation of air flowing around the coil heads at the AL85’s maximum output of 85W. Please remember that the TFV8 Baby Tank is designed mainly for cloud production so the airflow, even though it is fully adjustable, is not restricted enough to create a tight draw.
Clearly, you will need to prime the installed 0.4Ω Japanese Organic Cotton Coil prior to use which can be accessed by unscrewing the base of the tank.
Once this process is complete attach it to the main device (battery) via the 510 connector on the top and power up the AL85. The intelligent firmware will automatically detect that a new coil has been attached and will ask you to confirm this by selecting Yes on the OLED display.
SMOK have produced yet another advanced portable vaping kit that’s not lacking in style or performance.
It fits snugly in the palm of your hand and fires with a gentle squeeze of the fire bar making it one of the most comfortable devices produced by SMOK to date.
Layout of the OLED screen helps to make navigating the menus a breeze, even for newcomers to the SMOK brand. Whether you have a preference for temperature controlled vaping or variable wattage this device has you covered with a plethora of built in safety features to keep you safe.
Again, cloud production and flavour are extremely good with this kit thanks to the inclusion of the TFV8 Baby Tank and their well-designed coil heads which helps to reduce the risk of a dry hit at higher temperatures thanks to their wide liquid inlets and of course the two wide airflow slots positioned at the base of the tank.
For firmware upgrades you can connect the AL85 using the supplied micro USB cable directly to your internet source. You will find the connection port situated below the fire bar.
I’m going to mention the battery life and coils once again as clearly a singular 18650mAh battery with an attached Sub-Ohm tank that includes 0.4Ω or, a 0.6Ω coil heads isn’t going to be sufficient for long periods of vaping at the higher settings. That being said, it has been designed to be compact so if longevity is crucial to you then you may wish to consider one of their larger battery versions instead.
Insufficient venting for the battery compartment. Unless I’m missing something here, I couldn’t find any at all?
And The Downright Ugly
It’s another fine example of a compact vaping kit so I have nothing to report on the AL85 Kit in this section.
