If you happen to be a fan of some serious OLED real estate and require something that will suitably impress your friends this Christmas, or if you just happen to be on the lookout for a gift that will guarantee putting a very big smile on the face of a friend or loved one, then I think I might just have the answer for you!
Allow me to introduce the SMOK G-Priv 220W TC device sent to me directly that is going to go down a storm within the vaping community and looks set to become the biggest selling device of 2016, at the time of writing.
You cannot fail to be impressed when you take the lid off the box for the first time and come face to face with such an elegant piece of craftsmanship. It appears on face value to be well engineered with a screen to die for.
The technical specifications are impressive just like the device itself, offering a wattage range from 1-220W plus a temperature control range from 200℉ 600℉/100℃ 315℃
So, let’s see if it lives up to the hype and the looks!
The SMOK G-PRIV 220W TC Kit comes in its usual smart packaging displaying the device itself on the front cover of the box along with the QR codes for the App Store and Google Play plus, the SMOK App. There is also a scratch to remove strip that proves the devices authenticity.
On the back of the box you will find a full description of its contents and a brief description of the device plus the tank and disclaimers.

Tools Of The Trade & Safety Information
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of certain types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to, or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Seek professional medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.

G-Priv 220W TC Operation
Please note, the model sent to me directly from SMOK is not the final production model, so take this into account when evaluating my comments in the conclusion section at the end of this review.
Firstly, you will need to install two 18650 batteries of a type that SMOK recommend being used with this device.
Lift off the carbon fibre cover using the tab on the bottom which is on the opposite side to the OLED screen. You will see a diagram inside that shows you which way around they will need to be installed and then replace the cover.
Attach your atomizer via the spring loaded 510 connector and press the fire bar five times in quick succession to turn the device on. You will see the SMOK Logo appear followed by the touch screen. If you have not attached an atomizer at this stage a message will appear on the screen notifying you of this.
The display shows the current time on the top left-hand side and to the right there is a dual battery charge indicator. Below the time is a left facing arrow which when pressed takes you to the main menu screen.
In the centre of the screen is a circle displaying the current wattage which is pre-set to 1W. By touching just outside it in either the nine or three o’clock positions two arrows will appear allowing you to increase or decrease the power.
Pressing either of the two arrows with a single touch will increase or decrease the current wattage in increments of 0.1. Pressing either of the arrows continuously will allow for fast scrolling to take place.
You will also notice inside the circle that the current ramp up has been set to Normal. This can be changed between four different user settings (Soft Normal Hard Max) in the VW mode displayed inside the main menu window.
A puff counter reading sits just below the circle displaying the amount of puffs you have taken. This can be set to a predetermined amount if you wish in the main menu, by pressing the puff counter icon.
At the bottom of the screen are three smaller circular icons that display the current Amps Voltage and Resistance.
The main menu has four icons in total. 1. Variable Wattage Mode. 2.Temperature Control Mode. 3. Maximum Puff Mode. And 4. Settings giving you easy access to all the parameters included with this device.
For a more detailed description of each one of these menu functions please follow the instructions found inside the user manual. The OLED menu structure is very straightforward and easy to navigate around.
SMOK have also included three separate locking functions with the G-Priv 220W TC to help in avoiding accidental activation of the fire bar and the OLED touch screen.
By pressing the silver switch located just above the fire bar once you will notice that the OLED touch screen is turned off, saving battery life and at the same time reducing the risk of changing any of the current settings. You can continue vaping in this mode as the fire bar remains active.
Holding the same silver switch in for one second leaves the OLED screen on but locks the user out from making any further adjustments to it. A small lock icon will be displayed at the top and to the right of the time.
And finally, pressing the fire bar three times in quick succession will lock the fire bar itself preventing the device from accidental activation.
The reverse action to all of the locking functions provided with the G-Priv will unlock them.
They say the best things come in small packages and it appears that this is the case with the G-priv 220W TC!
It’s yet another fantastically designed, well made, and feature rich advanced box mod with a jaw dropping 2.4” OLED screen that is set to be a very hot seller this Christmas.
From the spring loaded 510 connector at the top right down to the base I can find little wrong with its performance or design.
Interconnectivity between tanks of up to a maximum of 25mm in diameter posed no problems whatsoever during my two-week period of testing.
The touch screen is responsive and well laid out making navigation of the menus a breeze. One small point here would be to increase the size of the drop-down menu, and the on-off menu as well. Although this is visually appealing in its current form a colour version would be even more attractive.
The fire bar fits neatly into its design and functions well giving a positive response every time you fire it without any noticeable delay at all.
Improvements to the magnetic battery door provide a completely rattle free experience and has an added touch of class with a carbon fibre finish.
The inclusion of three locking functions should reduce accidental firing of the device and any unwanted adjustments of the settings on the 2.4” OLED screen.
Once again SMOK have chosen to include balanced charging of both batteries like we have seen with the introduction of the recently released Alien Mod which will allow you to charge the batteries directly inside the device via the Micro USB port on the base.
This has one slight downside however which is a longer charge time. The upside to this is the battery life once fully charged is extremely good indeed.
SMOK have excluded the over the air technology and opted for a Micro USB Port for firmware upgrades on the base instead? I hope this can be addressed on future releases.
As we know, SMOK are one of the few companies who regularly update their firmware, and this is a smarter and more convenient way to go about it.
Ample venting of the batteries is provided by three large slots situated next to the Micro USB Port which should in theory be sufficient.
SMOK has also released a new G-priv 220W Kit that has the TFV8 Baby Beast included with it and matching coloured O-rings making it even more appealing to the eye if that were possible, although I have not seen it in the flesh yet.
And just to make sure you are producing enough clouds a new coil, the 0.12Ω V8-T10 has landed on my desktop that has a range of 50W-300W with best performance set between 130W- 190W. Happy Vaping!
Very well specked for the price which is around the £70-$75 mark so be sure to check out your local B&M store in time for the BLACK FRIDAY SALES!
