Kangertech seems to be producing new products faster than I can review them currently, which gives a very clear idea of how popular this brand is becoming in an evolving world of High Tech vaping devices and the increasing demand for them.
It appears at first glance that the IPOW 2 has been designed for a niche market, aimed at the intermediate vaper looking to experiment with a more powerful variable wattage device that includes the safety features required to achieve this with more simplistic functionality. It can just as easily be suited to the most experienced vaper looking for a hassle free vape while commuting to and from the office.
Kanger clearly do their research in order to supply what they think the market will demand, and with the constant exposure of the benefits of vaping over the traditional analog cigarettes in the media, this is going to become an area that will require such a device.
The IPOW 2 arrived in a tamper evident plastic sealed brown cardboard box displaying The KangerTech IPOW 2 logo on the top ¼ of the box. ¾ of the way down you will see a clear square window displaying the OLED screen with the KangerTech Logo and I POW 2 on the front side of the box.
The rear contains a list of the devices features including the three different battery capacities this model comes in 1000mAh 1300mAh & 1600 mAh with a check box beside each one. Please make sure you have checked you have the right capacity battery for your personal vaping requirements prior to purchase, along with its warranty period should any be included with this device prior to purchase
Placed on the right-hand side of the box you will find the authentication sticker along with the product security code online verification system attached below this.
To check the authenticity of your new KangerTech product, simply apply a droplet of water to the KangerTech Logo, and it should disappear. Dry the wetted logo with a cloth and it will reappear again.
These two methods will help you confirm that you have purchased a legitimate KangerTech product, rather than a cloned copy.
Sliding the plastic container from inside the box, you will find the Battery along with the eGgo connector situated above the main battery. An instruction manual is also included along with a Micro USB charger.
The newest variable wattage batteries from Kanger! They feature an LED display that shows battery remaining, wattage, and resistance. Finally, a removable eGo/510 connector on the top so 510 tanks will sit flush. New heat dissipation holes on each side of the battery allow for added ventilation. An internal temperature control system allows for another layer of added protection on top of the double protected battery.

E-Liquids used for testing in this review were kindly supplied by G2 Vapor Range and Virgin vapor.
If you intend to use this range of E-Liquids, please make sure they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
For EU countries, more information on this can be found here along with REACH’s partner agencies from around the globe.
E-Liquids may contain diacetyl (DA) and acetyl propionyl (AP) or other carcinogenic ingredients or disease-causing substances, so please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of certain types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to, or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Again, please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews. Also, check with your E-liquid supplier or the equipment manufacturers directly before purchase and use.
You might find this range of calculators provided by Steam Engine particularly useful, so thank you to Lars for allowing me to include them in my reviews. These calculators are currently under development, and the information that they contain may change at any time without notice. Please read the How It Works section for a more in-depth understanding. And never leave your device charging unattended, make sure you are using the recommended battery for your device, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
Potential Polycarbonate problems
It is well known that certain e-liquid ingredients can cause cracking or even melting of polycarbonate plastic or acrylic tanks and tubes. For further information on this subject, please check with your E-juice supplier or contact the manufacturer directly.
The IPOW 2 performs well for a device in this price range. Don’t expect all the bells and whistles, just a stable variable wattage device that allows you to vape in a great deal of safety and comfort.
The Smart fire button is well placed and easy to locate without the need to visually search for it. To turn the battery on or off simply press it five times in quick succession.
Likewise, the OLED screen displays the information of your current wattage, Battery state, and Resistance clearly without having to strain your eyes to read it.
The Voltage adjustment ring on the base is reasonably smooth to operate and should not move easily from Its wattage setting once determined by the user.
3W-12W produces sufficient power to produce good vapour output and flavour from your choice of E-juice. I used the New Kanger Pro tank 3 and the Kanger Mini Pro tank 3 V2 with E juices from Reign Drops which includes their new Torpedo line to test the IPOW 2 during the course of this review and was more than happy with the overall results.
Removing and replacing the eGo 510 connector is easily achieved, but please take care when doing so as it is black in colour and small which could easily lead to you misplacing or losing it permanently.
You also have a choice of differing colours to choose from. These are Black Silver Bronze Red and Blue, so most people should be able to find a colour that suits their personal tastes.
The IPOW 2 is a well made and well-specked device for the price and market it has been designed to cater for in my opinion. I have used it on a daily basis for the past three weeks without fault as you would expect from a Kanger product, and as this was sent to me free of charge for the purpose of this review I have since passed it onto a new convert who is over the moon with it and making good use of my E-juices too. He said, “vaping is surprisingly really cool, I’m beginning to feel the benefits already and saving a small fortune as well!”
Venting of the battery by way of the new heat dissipation holes on each side of the battery adds to the overall style while allowing for a safer vaping experience. I did not experience any discomfort caused by heat extraction from inside the battery casing while using it over the three week period. Ergonomically and aesthetically this part has been well thought through at the design stage.
The only concern I had was the removable eGo/510 connector seated on the top. Yes, it’s a nice way to flush mount your 510 tank by removing it, however being small and black it could be easily lost as I have already mentioned. I’m sure for a small increase in the overall price that a second eGo/510 connector might be a wise inclusion or the option for spares to be carried by the vendor instead?
Your choice of battery size will be a consideration prior to purchase but as a general rule of thumb, a 650 mAh battery should last you somewhere between 4-5 hrs. Remember this is only a guide, so if you are a heavy smoker then choose a higher mAh battery, or seek further advice prior to purchase from your local stockist of KangerTech’s customer support service. Or do what I did, purchase two batteries, two tanks, a few spare coils, and, of course, an extra bottle of your favourite E-juice!
Also, you might find the choice of vaping calculators provided by Steam Engine particularly useful, so thank you to Lars for allowing me to include them in my current and future reviews. And be sure to read his disclaimer first and fully in the about section on his website prior to use. Never leave your device charging unattended, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
Prices start from around £20.00 for the1000mAh Battery £23.00 for the 1300mAh Battery and £25.00 for the 1600mAh Battery.
Production will start this week so it should be arriving in your local B&M store sometime soon.
So if you happen to be a recent convert looking to step up to a variable wattage device with a little bit more power than you have been using so far then this could be a very good place to start.
