Joyetech has been busy producing some of the finest and innovative products in today’s E-Cigarette market, making good use of the latest technologies available, and this can be clearly demonstrated in their revolutionary design of the eVic Supreme. This feature rich VV/VW device truly is a joy to behold, and you will understand why I say this after reading the review.
There is so much ground to cover due to the abundance of options this device has that I intend to write about the more salient points I feel need to be mentioned in order to gain an overall perspective of the benefits you, the consumer will obtain by using this device, and the performance levels it has to offer.
As this review is designed to give you an overall picture of what this device has to offer, rather than the complete feature rich options available to you in this device, I will include a link to the online manual that you can browse through at your leisure.
The familiar silver Joyetech logos can be seen on both the front and back of the box with the inscription eVic Supreme printed along both sides. You will find an address to their website written on the right-hand side of the box, along with the Joyetech name and logo printed on the left.
The base gives a description of the product and included parts, as well as the purpose it has been designed for, with an age rating of 18yrs and above. Also included are some helpful health guidelines that are thoughtful on their part. Please do take note. Also please check the warranty period should any be included with this device before purchasing.
This Supreme comes in two colour options; Silver & Black so be sure to check you have the right one before opening your product. And finally on the base a stamp, Made in China with associated trademarks printed underneath it.
Removing the outer casing, you will find the eVic Supreme seated securely, and surrounded by the purposely constructed durable foam padded container. Just remove the device and lift the top container out by the attached white label to reveal the rest of the contents to be found inside.
These include a multilingual user manual, wall adaptor, USB cable, a Joyetech warranty card with authenticity code on the reverse side with simple instructions on how to validate your product.
And finally a myVapors card from Joyetech with clear instructions on how to connect your device to your computer via the supplied USB cable for software upgrades, and personalized configuration.
I have also used a selection of different E-Liquids with varying PG/VG, mixtures including 100% VG from Virgin Vapor. Using the ranges supplied in this table for consistency, up to and including a maximum of 25.7watts with the attached Delta 1.4 atomizer. And 30 watts using a 0.5-ohm build on my Kayfun constructed from 0.42 canthal, with 5mm diameter.
If you are already a supplier or intend to supply this range of E-Liquids, please make sure that they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
If you intend to use this range of E-Liquids, please make sure they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
For EU countries, more information on this can be found here along with REACH’s partner agencies from around the globe.
E-Liquids may contain diacetyl (DA) and acetyl propionyl (AP) or other carcinogenic ingredients or disease-causing substances, so please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of certain types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to, or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Again, please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews. Also, check with your E-liquid supplier or the equipment manufacturers directly before purchase and use.
You might find this range of calculators provided by Steam Engine particularly useful, so thank you to Lars for allowing me to include them in my reviews. These calculators are currently under development, and the information that they contain may change at any time without notice. Please read the How It Works section for a more in-depth understanding. And never leave your device charging unattended, make sure you are using the recommended battery for your device, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
Potential Polycarbonate problems
It is well known that certain e-liquid ingredients can cause cracking or even melting of polycarbonate plastic or acrylic tanks and tubes. For further information on this subject, please check with your E-juice supplier or contact the manufacturer directly.
The first thing I noticed after unboxing the eVic Supreme was how comfortable it sat in the palm of my hand. The positioning of the fire button was fine with only a small amount of pressure required to activate it.
The dimensions and weight are as follows. Length: 139.0mm Diameter: 23.0mm Weight: 148g excluding the Sony VTC4 2100mAh Lithium Battery. With the inclusion of the Battery, there is an increase of 46g to 194g.
The output voltage of the device can be adjusted anywhere between 3V to 6V while the device reads the resistance of the attached atomizer to optimize the output to the desired selection. With a maximum output of 30W (6V), the eVic Supreme will support atomizers with an ohm rating between 0.5Ω~5Ω.
The 23mm diameter top cap has the customary four grooves cut in for improved air circulation and is completely removable and adjustable as I will discuss later in this review. The 510 ego cone threaded connection is also fully removable allowing for the replacement of this part should you ever make the mistake of cross threading- rendering your device unusable.
I am very impressed by the level of thought and ingenuity that has gone into designing the latest eVic, making sure that customers have every opportunity of getting the maximum use out of their investment by creating it in modular fashion that allows for damaged part replacement.
Situated below this is the wrap around smoked black control head which includes not only the Fire/Power button and USB connector situated underneath the rubber cap, but a 0.96 inch 64×128 16 gray scale display allowing you to see the full functionality of your chosen device settings along with uploaded images from your personal collection of pictures stored on your computer.
By using the myVapors software that can be downloaded free from the Joyetech’s website you will be able to upload images to the eVic Supreme when it is connected to the software via the included USB cable, and user configured settings of the devices display. The USB cable can also be used for charging your battery and has a pass through facility as well.
Attached to the bottom of the control head is the 360-degree rotating interactive control ring that is used for selecting the customizable menu options available to you, as well as adjusting the VV/VW settings depending which mode you happen to be in.
You also have two further options available to you which are the RVV/RVW modes. For those of you who may be new to vaping and unfamiliar with these functions, I have included a link that will help you to understand their functionality, as well as the benefits that they offer for your personal vaping pleasure.
The all brushed stainless steel battery housing situated below the control ring is both smooth to touch and comfortable to hold. It includes the engraved Joyetech Supreme name and the company logo just above the battery cap. The tubular housing can be removed by unscrewing it from the control head should you wish to replace it at any time with the optional colour from the Joyetech website, and I have found the threading to be very smooth as it is on all threaded parts of the device.
Removing the battery cap, you will see the attached super conductive connecting spring that holds the battery securely inside the housing, and I have not detected any rattling when shaking it. On the base, you will see one central vent hole surrounded with the Joyetech logo.
To fully test this device I have used the eVic Supreme daily for one month and I can say quite simply that it has performed faultlessly throughout, helping to provide me with excellent flavour and vapour production, particularly at the higher wattage outputs as you would expect.
Adjustment of the top cap depending on which tank I was using at the time gave me the option to increase or decrease the airflow around it, helping to create better vapour production, especially when using tanks that do not include an adjustable air intake valve such as the Iclear 30s.
I think this is a point worth mentioning for two reasons. First, it helped to improve the performance overall on all tanks I used. Second, it did not take away anything aesthetically from the Supremes stylish looks when there was a need to flush mount them by rotating the 510 cap slightly up to meet the base of the tank and close the gap. Surprisingly I only ever needed to do this when vaping a heavier liquid to create a tighter draw by decreasing the airflow.
With the raft of features this device provides, I found it to be the most customizable VV/VW-RVV/RVW to date allowing you, the consumer to set it up exactly how you would like to vape. With the inclusion of two software options now available, you can also choose how you would like to view the output from the OLED screen.
Whether it be the multi-function display option, or the slightly more simplistic version giving you the current battery life, wattage, voltage, and ohms readings, with increased text size for poor lighting conditions or bright sunny days, the choice is yours to make.
Unlimited power sits at your fingertips at the touch of a button, with a range of 3 watts up to a maximum output of 30 watts and 6 volts, catering for atomizer resistances from 0.5 ohms up to a maximum 5.0 ohms, this is a very well specked and as the name suggests Supreme (powerful) device.
With the inclusion of the safety features that the eVic Supreme has built in you can sit back and vape at a relatively high wattage setting by today’s standards without the fear of overloading this device.
Attempting, for example, to attach a build below 0.5 ohms will generate an error message on the OLED screen saying Atomizer short. With adequate venting on the base of the battery cap and the inclusion of an automatic cut off switch, Joyetech has apparently kept the safety of their customers in mind.
Battery life was more than ample too, with the included high-quality Sony VTC 4 18650 30amp 2100mAh comfortably providing me with a full day’s vape, with some to spare by the end.
I had noticed some comments in the forums before writing this review that the battery caps machining was a little too sharp, causing discomfort while holding the device, and also unscrewing it.
Whether this was the case on pre-production models sent out for review, I cannot say. However, this is not the case on the one I have here currently. There are clearly machined grooves cut in to help maintain good purchase when unscrewing and replacing the battery cap after charging, but this has not caused me any discomfort at all and only helped reduce the potential for slippage when performing this action.
This is a very smart and well thought out Modular device allowing for interchangeability between the two colour options provided, and this includes their new Delta Atomizer as well. It would be nice to see Joyetech make other colour options available to the consumer, a dark bronze would match in well with the silver for example.
I can only assume and hope that by designing a device in a modular form that any future upgrades will allow for backwards compatibility so as not to make potential and current customers’ purchases redundant in 12 months time, giving them the confidence to invest safely in the eVic Supreme now and for the foreseeable future.
This would give way for a customizable options section of the eVic Supreme on their website, allowing for even greater flexibility when making cosmetic changes that I hope they will have available shortly, increasing the potential options currently on offer to the consumer that can only be achieved with a modular designed device.
Along with this, I would also like to see a base charging unit and the inclusion of blue tooth technology for future software upgrades. This would remove the need for a USB connection in the current control head eliminating any confusion that a few people have mentioned about the size and positioning of the USB connector and the Power/Fire button.
Do consider at this point that the Power/Fire button is Silver, and the USB rubber protection cap is Black, so there is an apparent visible and tactile difference between the two!
I have been nothing other than impressed with the overall performance of the eVic Supreme. It is a great performer, well designed, comfortable to hold, and I very much hope future proofed, as I have mentioned, by its original forward-thinking modular design characteristics.
If you’re thinking of doubling your current output from the standard 15-watt maximum output of most of the current models on offer today, then the eVic Supreme is most definitely a worthy contender in my opinion.
