If you have already read my review of the SMOK TFV 4 and what I consider to be one the best-designed tanks currently on the market from China, then you will be familiar with most of the contents of this latest review. However, do take some time to look at the increasing coil options available to you as the choice is still growing quite quickly. If you happen to be looking for a smaller option to the TFV 4 with the same high-quality build and stunning performance, then feel free to read on.
It appears that SMOK never seems to rest on their laurels or indeed rest at all! No sooner have I finished writing a review for one product that they have sent to me then two more arrive in the post or, in this case, three.
The TFV 4 has become something of an overnight sensation recently with a great many of you, like me, singing the praises of a Company who are prepared to go that extra mile in order to give the vaping community a product that looks good, is at the forefront of any technological advances being made, and produce these products in a style and at a price that others only find hard to match. Not forgetting of course the customary stellar performance that their products seem to produce time and again.
Weighing in at 85g and 73.5mm in height with no fewer than eight individual adjustable air slots, the TFV4 Mini is a compact tank that is designed to fit a broad range of mods thanks to its 22 mm diameter.
Featuring eight brand new cores which include the TF-CLP2, TF-S6, TF-RCA, TF-Ti, TF-N2, TF-N2 Air Core, TF-T2, and TF-T2 Air Core, it’s designed to bring you the very best vaping experience possible in its class. And believe me, this little beauty oozes class and performance.
The top refill design makes filling just about as easy as it gets. With a double-layered drip tip that features an inner Pyrex glass layer to minimise the risk of scalding, the TFV4 mini is truly one of a kind.
In order to view in more detail a never ending list of current and future high-quality coil designs on offer from SMOK please do visit their website, where you can see for yourself why I believe that SMOK are taking vaping to a whole new level and It’s not just the coils either!
There is a marked difference between the standard Core and the new air core too.
Inside the Standard Core all of the air flows through the heated coils to produce a much warmer vapour. They are also introducing Clapton coils which create a larger area to come into contact with the wicking material, creating a more intense flavour and, of course, improving vapour production too.
However, the air core system with increased amounts of air holes will allow some of the air to bypass the heated coils allowing for a mix of both warm air (Heated) and cooler air (Bypassed) to mix together, which will give the user a far better vaping experience, particularly at higher temperature settings, producing what I hope will be a more flavoursome vape and reduced heating of the mouthpiece.
SMOK have planned the launch date for the TFV4 Mini to coincide with the release of their X Cube Mini, Koopor Plus and simply stunning all wooden 75w TC device called the TreeBox. Given its 22mm diameter, they have tried to make sure that it will be as near a perfect fit for most other devices currently available on the market today as well.
The New patented TF-N2 Coil & TF-Ti Coils are using both Nickel 200 and Titanium temperature sensing wire respectively, and should work in harmony with other supported SMOK temperature-control devices.
Also, the coil heads use a Separate Chamber Design, which can significantly improve stability and reduce any interference between each of the individual coils themselves.
There are two options available to the consumer in order to provide you with exactly what you require, so look at both options on offer and if you are not a fan of building and prefer your coils to be pre-built for you then just go straight for the single kit. Or for those of you who like to have the option to build as well then the mini kit will clearly be your best choice.
SMOK have also included two colour choices for you as well. An all Stainless Steel edition or a Night Black finished edition.

I have used a selection of juices in different flavours from Ripe Vapes, plus three devices for the purpose of testing the Smok TFV4 Mini during the course of this review which includes the very latest 200w Koopor Plus, X Cube II and the 75w TC TreeBox.
If you intend to use this range of E-Liquids, please make sure they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
For EU countries, more information on this can be found here along with REACH’s partner agencies from around the globe.
E-Liquids may contain diacetyl (DA) and acetyl propionyl (AP) or other carcinogenic ingredients or disease-causing substances, so please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.
People can also suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of certain types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to, or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils.
Again, please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews. Also, check with your E-liquid supplier or the equipment manufacturers directly before purchase and use.
And never leave your device charging unattended, make sure you are using the recommended battery if one is required for your device, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
The first unique feature you will come across with the TFV4 Mini is a redesigned 510 drip tip that houses an inner Pyrex glass wall as I have already mentioned (Heat Shield) in order to reduce the risk of burning your lips when the outer metal casing heats up at high vaping temperatures.
Seated below the drip tip is an adjustable air intake slot that we have become familiar with on SMOK’s recent tank designs but now includes four adjustable airflow slots, helping to provide increased cooling of the heated vapour (Slip Streaming) prior to entering the mouthpiece. The bore size of this appears to be the exact same diameter to the TFV 4 and will be better suited and clearly aimed at the cloud enthusiasts because of its larger size, helping to encourage a direct lung hit rather than a mouth to lung hit.
Quick and easy filling of the 3.5ml tank is delivered through yet another extremely intelligent and well thought out piece of engineering allowing you to fill the TFV4 Mini from the top with one smooth anticlockwise motion. Simply hold the tank in your left hand and press down on the top of the tank. (See Arrow On Top → Open) Using a counter-clockwise motion (half way) to gain access to the filling hole placed just to the side of the central airflow tube. Make sure you DO NOT pour your E-Liquid into the central airflow tube in error.
The main body of the tank is a 100% Stainless Steel Design that incorporates Pyrex glass holding up to a maximum of 3.5ml of E-liquid, which should be more than sufficient capacity for most users. Unlike other tanks using a similar design the Pyrex glass sits inside the stainless steel housing and is secured by the use of O-rings, allowing for both the top or bottom half to be removed with a simple twist and pull action.
Another new feature that has been designed to maximise airflow situated at the base of the TFV 4 Mini is four large diameter and equally spaced air intake slots, positioned beneath a rotating control ring that opens and closes each intake in equal amounts. This is very smooth to operate and functions very well indeed.
Removing the base cap gives you access to the coil well where you will find a TF CLP2 Coil 0.35Ω already installed. Removing and replacing the coil heads only requires a simple counter-clockwise turn to release the threading from the base unit.
Please remember not to over tighten the coil head back into the well and always prime both the coils and the Japanese organic cotton through the three slots positioned on the side prior to filling and using your TFV4 Mini tank.
The RBA Section
The RBA section will allow for both Single (TFR1) and Dual Coil (TFR2) configurations and comes with a single (TRF1) RBA and a 0.85 Ω coil pre-installed.
Peak insulation is included beneath an open and easily accessible deck given its relatively small size. The posts can be accessed on either side for attaching your coil, and two small Philip screws are used to secure the coil above the centre air flow tube.
The flow of air comes from four intake holes situated at the bottom of the RBA and in turn line up with the four outer air intake slots on the base unit itself to produce more than sufficient airflow and air intake adjustment around the coil/ coils.
The quality here once again speaks volumes in terms of the attention to detail in its design and superb performance given its relatively small size.
How To Build The RBA Section
1. Before starting, please make sure your hands are clean.
2. Taking the TF-RCA core apart.
The TF-RCA comes with two build screws, one on each side. One side is the plus terminal of the deck, and the other is minus terminal. This provides more possibilities for you to install your coil exactly the way you wish and more comfortably.
3. The kit includes a small airflow tip that can be placed onto the central air hole of the Rebuildable Clapton Atomizer deck. It has been designed primarily for throat hit by reducing the overall airflow.
4. Installing the pre-wrapped coil. Place the coil (including Clapton coils) between the screws and wrap the ends around them and tighten. Attention: The coil has to be wrapped with one end at the plus terminal, with the other end attached to the minus terminal.
5. Position the coil over the centre of the airflow hole as precisely as you can, making sure the coil is NOT touching the base. Then cut off any additional wire to avoid creating a short.
6. Cut off a strip of Organic cotton and place it inside the coil.
7. Cut the cotton at an angle and make sure it’s not too short or too long.
8. Soak the coil with your choice of e-liquid and adjust the cotton to fit removing any additional cotton as required for a clean fit.
Warning: Coils must be checked for resistance before they are fired on any device, and re-checked periodically to ensure the resistance remains the same.
9. Test fire the coil to make sure that it is functioning correctly and attach the housing, checking to make sure that no wire is touching the outer casing.
10. Wash your hands to remove any residue.
I mentioned in my previous TFV4 review that SMOK had made that tank to a very high and exacting standard, so it should come as no surprise at all that the TFV4 Mini it is of an equally high standard too only in a smaller package.
All moving parts including the opening of the top cap for filling, replacing the coil heads and taking the tank apart for the purpose of cleaning and building is a very straightforward, smooth and effortless experience. The RBA section is a flawless performer also, just like the larger TFV 4 with easy access to the deck for building once again based on a very well thought out design that allows for the use of Clapton coils as well.
Wicking of the E-liquids employed in the review caused few problems in both configurations, producing massive clouds for its size and a far better-flavoured vape when compared to similar models currently available, especially with the new Clapton coils. Pretty awesome!
The tank capacity of 3.5ml is sufficient for a tank of this size in my opinion and the double layered drip tip to help reduce the build up of heat at high temperatures appears to work very well. I still live in hope that SMOK will develop and release an organic cotton 2.0Ω coil, which will suit so many vapers who do not wish to join the sub ohm culture but benefit from the improved flavour that an Organic Cotton Coil can produce.
You may also be surprised to find that non-sub ohm vapers far out way the sub ohm vapers, so from a purely financial perspective, it makes a great deal of sense to include one in the range, particularly after seeing them being produced by other manufacturers already.
An eight-way fully adjustable air intake system should allow for ultra fine tuning of the TFV4 Mini to suit your personal style of vaping, so they seem to have this covered also. I noticed some leaking here as well once pressure inside the tank dropped below one-third full so keep it topped up if you can.
If you are after a smaller version of one of the best devised sub ohm tanks on the market at a price that does not come close to matching its performance and build quality, with a never-ending choice of coil options (2.0Ω Please!) then it would appear you have everything that you require right here and leak free!
I also hope the engineers at SMOK look at designing an RDA which will be an added bonus for many of you out there I’m sure this side of Christmas.
Expected price for the TFV4 Mini Kit should be around £26.00 – $38.00 respectively.
