It’s rare to find a quality piece these days that doesn’t cost you an arm and a leg to buy but look what’s just turned up today from OBS Technology.
I’ve heard really good things said about them and finally I can see why. After using their products over the course of my summer vacation it’s time to spread the word to all corners of the globe as it appears we have a new star on the block; OBS Technology!
I’m lucky enough and very grateful to have been sent products directly from the manufacturers to review and feedback on but none more so in this case. For a Company who mass produce products on a large scale, the quality of the machining and overall finish really is extremely impressive.
Coupled with a unique top air flow system that has been specifically designed to improve the circulation of air flow around the coils and minimise leaking, plus the inclusion of an anti-spit back guard, the ability to drip directly onto the coils without the need of removing the top cap, you can see why the latest Cheetah RDA from OBS TECH is causing quite a stir!
The Cheetah Tank comes in a sealed orange gift box that includes the following:

Operation & Performance
For the purpose of conducting this review, I have used four new flavours sent to me directly by VIP which boast some original flavour profiles. Make up 70% VG 30% PG in either 0mg-3mg or 6mg Nic with each one producing a very good representation of its individual flavour profile and vapour production too. I have also used the latest Alien 220W Device sent to me directly from SMOKTECH.
I can also recommend purchasing some of the products you will need to start making your own builds from Coil Master. I’ve been a big fan of their particular brand and use the Ohm’s Meter and tool kit regularly. Check out this link, or contact your local B&M store for more information.
If you intend to use this range of E-Liquids, please make sure they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
For EU countries, more information on this subject can be found here along with REACH’s partner agencies from around the globe.
E-Liquids may contain Diacetyl (DA) and Acetyl Propionyl (AP) or other carcinogenic ingredients or disease-causing substances, so please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of particular types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Again, please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews. Also, check with your E-liquid supplier or the equipment manufacturers directly before purchase and use.
You might also find this range of calculators provided by Steam Engine particularly useful, so thank you to Lars for allowing me to include them in my reviews. These calculators are currently under development, and the information that they contain may change at any time without notice. Please read the How It Works section for a more in-depth understanding. And never leave your device charging unattended, make sure you are using the recommended battery for your device, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
For newcomers or inexperienced vapers to building your own coils you can find some excellent tutorials on YouTube so I would suggest looking at these to gain as much knowledge as possible before attempting a build by yourself.
Additionally, you can seek further advice from your local vape store first, or more experienced vapers to be found in the chat rooms. There’s plenty of help out there if you look and never be frightened to ask.
The first thing you are going to need to decide is whether to construct a single or dual coil build as you have the option for both.
To start, remove the outer casing by pulling firmly on the 510 threading to access the deck area and loosen the grub screws on both of the posts. OBS have included two locating slots on the bottom of the chamber and locating bars on the base to help with both alignment, and securing the chamber to the base.
Insert your coil/coils making sure one end connects to the positive post and the other end is attached to the negative post.
Tighten the grub screws to secure the coils in this case into place and remove any excess wire using your cutters. Repeat this process on the opposite side and you should now have two coils positioned ready to insert your organic cotton. You can use the Allen key to align the coil/coils if they are not in the correct horizontal position.
Remember at this point to make sure that the coils are not directly touching either of the posts or could come into contact with the 304 stainless steel outer casing when it is replaced causing a short. Also, make sure each of the coils is centred underneath both of the top airflow inlets for dripping maximum air flow.
Use your ohm’s metre to check the resistance of your build and check for shorts before test firing the coils. Next, attach the velocity deck to your device and pulse the coils using ceramic tweezers to make any small adjustments to the spacing of each coil in order to remove any hotspots looking for an even glow across each of the coils surface areas.
Cut either one or two strips of organic cotton to length depending on whether you have chosen to use one or two coils in your build and insert these through each coil making sure you have allowed enough at both ends to fit into the juice well. It is advisable to check that you have not accidentally blocked the bottom airflow with organic cotton which would impede its function and reduce the overall performance.
And finally, apply your e-liquid making sure the coil/coils and the organic cotton are coated sufficiently but not excessively to avoid any possibility of leaking through the bottom air holes.
Replace the AFC tube carefully, once again making sure that neither of the coils is touching the posts or outer metal casing as I have already mentioned. Add the top cap with attached drip tip and you should be good to go.
For a more detailed description on how to build the Cheetah RDA follow the instructions in their well documented and illustrated user manual.
With a myriad of RDA’s currently available on the market it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find one that suits both the flavour connoisseur and cloud chaser alike without spending a small fortune on a high-end design however, that being said, OBS seem to have got this one just about right and at a very reasonable price too.
The machining on this 316SS RBA and other tanks sent to me for review from OBS which includes the Engine and Frost Wyrm (coming soon) are remarkable given that they are massed produced and not hand finished.
With a laser engraved logo on the exterior and a very useful 5ml juice well situated below the velocity style decking on the inside, you quickly come to realise that this RDA is just that little bit special and attention to detail has most defiantly been applied!
The Wide bore drip tip sits comfortably in the mouth but at the same time is able to cope with heavy vapour production that you will experience above 60W. You can also drip directly through the drip tip which will save you time when you’re on the move.
Although this is not a standard size OBS have included a 510 adaptor so you can use any of your personal drip tips as well. It’s also worth mentioning that the adapter is well constructed and fits snugly into place with no movement at all thanks to the two well-placed O-rings.
Again, excellent machining on the top cap both inside and out with knurling included making the adjustment of the air flow control ring and removal and replacement of the top cap itself a breeze.
The four well-spaced side air intakes are also nicely machined in with no detectable rough edges here or anywhere else on this RBA for that matter. Inside the main body, you will see the same four air slots on the sides with an additional two sitting directly above the coil seating area.
The airflow system is complex in its design but makes a huge difference in circulating the airflow around the coils as this diagram clearly demonstrates, helping to expose the subtle flavour notes that are not as easily detectable using other manufacturers atomisers thus improving your overall vaping experience.
The decking area is spacious and allows for comfortable fitting and building of large diameter Clapton coils. Attention to detail has also been applied not only to the depth of the juice wells (5mm) but also minimising the contact area inside the chamber and base helping to reduce the heat build-up by as much as 30 percent.
The base fits securely into the chamber again thanks to the two O-rings and the locating bars. Another fine example of the quality machining that is fast becoming a trademark of OBS Technologies products. A small point here wold be to make the 510 pin adjustable on future designs.
That just about wraps this review up other than to say I’d love to see an adjustable 510 pin and the ability to reduce the airflow on one side when you are using a single coil.
Highly recommended for the price. RRP around £26.00-$30.00
