So, I’ve heard a lot of positive things said about Indulgences Mutation X V4 RDA over the past few months and was delighted to receive their latest version in the post to review for them.
The X V4S appears to be similar in its design on the outside to the Mutation X V4S however, the R&D team have removed the original four post decking with its positive centre block and two outer negative posts situated either side and replaced it with a new two post velocity style deck.
Impressed so far? Combine this with the multitude of adjustable airflow options available to you that fits extremely well with both the flavour and cloud chasing enthusiasts, and you will quickly understand why this latest adaptation is going to be a sure-fire hit out there in the community.

Operation & Performance
For the purpose of conducting this review, I have used a selection of two different E-Liquids with varying PG/VG combinations from Pour House plus Majestic’s award winning line, both of which are simply an excellent vaping experience. I have also used what I consider being one of the best-premade coils currently on the market today from Tradition Vapes.
I can personally recommend purchasing everything you will need to start making your own builds from Coil Master . I’ve been a big fan of their products and use them all the time. Check out the link below, or contact your local B&M store for more information.
If you intend to use this range of E-Liquids, please make sure they meet the current requirements set out by your countries regulatory bodies.
For EU countries, more information on this subject can be found here along with REACH’s partner agencies from around the globe.
E-Liquids may contain Diacetyl (DA) and Acetyl Propionyl (AP) or other carcinogenic ingredients or disease-causing substances, so please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews.
People can suffer from allergies to chemicals that may be present in the makeup of particular types of E-liquids or produced in their vapour. People can become sensitive to or even allergic to Nickel or Titanium used in Temperature Controlled designed coils. Again, please be aware of this and seek medical advice before using any of the products used in my reviews. Also, check with your E-liquid supplier or the equipment manufacturers directly before purchase and use.
You might also find this range of calculators provided by Steam Engine particularly useful, so thank you to Lars for allowing me to include them in my reviews. These calculators are currently under development, and the information that they contain may change at any time without notice. Please read the How It Works section for a more in-depth understanding. And never leave your device charging unattended, make sure you are using the recommended battery for your device, and always remember, SAFETY FIRST.
The first thing you are going to need to decide is whether to construct a single or dual coil build as you have the option of both with the Mutation X V4S as it includes two terminals per post.
Remember, if you opt for a single coil build to rotate the AFC control to close off the side airflow on the opposite side of the coil as it can cater for both types of setup, and use the included silicon plug to block off the bottom airflow system on the opposite side of your build too.
At this point, you can decide whether to use the Polycarbonate tank extension which will help to minimise the temperature of your vapour for low sub ohm builds and higher temperature settings. You can also use the supplied 510 Delrin Competition drip tip or your preferred choice of drip tip by inserting it into the threaded Delrin top cap which fits both the polycarbonate tank extension and the AFC top cap.
To remove the rebuildable velocity deck from inside the AFC tube press down on the top of both posts equally. You will notice that the deck begins to slide out from the bottom of the AFC tube that covers it.
For the purpose of this review, I have used the dual coil option and used two 0.6 ohms prebuilt Helix 28G Kanthal A-1Clapton coils from Tradition Vapes. The quality of these coils is remarkable, and the choice overwhelming, plus some MUJI Japanese Organic cotton.
For newcomers or inexperienced vapers to building you can find some excellent tutorials on YouTube so I would suggest looking at these to gain as much knowledge as possible before attempting a build by yourself.
Additionally, you can seek further advice from your local vape store first or more experienced vapers to be found in the chat rooms. There’s plenty of help out there if you look and never be frightened to ask.
Please make sure you always have an accurate ohm’s reader to measure the resistances of your builds before use.
To start off with loosen the grub screws on both posts. Insert the coil/coils making sure one end connects to the positive post and the other end is attached to the negative post. Tighten the grub screws to secure the coil into place and remove any excess wire using your cutters. Repeat this process on the opposite side and you should now have two coils positioned ready to insert the organic cotton. You can use the Allen key to align the coil/coils if they are not in a horizontal position.
Remember at this point to make sure that the coils are not directly touching either of the posts of could come into contact with the 304 stainless steel outer casing when it is replaced causing a short. Also, make sure each of the coils is centred over both of the bottom airflow inlets for maximum vapour production.
Use your ohm’s metre to check the resistance of your build and check for shorts before test firing and using your build. Next, attach the open deck to your device and pulse the coils using ceramic tweezers if required to make any small adjustments to the spacing of each coil in order to remove any hotspots, looking for an even glow across each of the coils surface areas.
Cut one or two strips of organic cotton to length depending on whether you have chosen to use either one or two coils in your build and insert these through each coil making sure you have allowed enough at both ends to fit into the juice wells below.
And finally, apply your e-liquid making sure the coil/coils and the organic cotton are coated sufficiently but not excessively to avoid any possibility of leaking through the bottom air holes.
Replace the AFC tube carefully, once again making sure that neither of the coils is touching the posts or outer metal casing as I have already mentioned.
The Mutation X V4S is one of the most uniquely designed RDA’s I’ve seen that appears to have on face value just about every style of vaping covered. Offering you a choice of two alternative setups thanks to the combination of a threaded 510 top cap and threaded AFC top cap when combined with the clear cooling tube adapter creating added flexibility on how you choose to vape.
Combined with such an efficient and revolutionary airflow system incorporated into its design allowing the cloud chaser maximum airflow for massive vapour production while maintaining a restricted airflow control for the flavour connoisseur’s you’re going to find this little beauty very hard to resist.
The inclusion of a velocity style deck is an added bonus in this latest model, providing ample and easily accessible space for both single and dual coil builds with just about any choice of wire you can imagine, plus a deep juice well helping to minimise the number of times you will need to drip.
All working parts included in this kit are of extremely good quality and this includes the threading, O-rings, and additional grub screws.
The inclusion of the 11mm wide bore competition Delrin drip tip is better suited to the cloud chaser seeking maximum throughput while providing some additional heat resistance at higher vaping temperatures. This can be used directly with the 510 top cap or the cooling tube adaptor in conjunction with the AFC top cap.
And with the 510 Delrin drip tip adapter that is included in the kit as well, you can select the drip tip that best suits your style of vaping.
Rotation of the AFC top cap situated within the AFC tube is silky smooth allowing for quick and easy adjustment of the top airflow system without any concerns for accidental slippage on your chosen setup.
The inclusion of an extended cooling tube adapter made a lot of difference for me personally as my preference is biased towards flavour, and by allowing that extra space above the coils helped immensely in reducing the temperature of the vapour and created a far more pleasant vaping experience.
This will also help you detect subtler flavour notes when you find the correct balance between the airflow set up, PG/VG combination, and your selected output. I would strongly suggest experimenting with the airflow controls that the X V4S has to reap the full benefits offered by its unique and stylish design.
Removal and replacement of the velocity style deck plate for the purpose of building on is simple and very straightforward to achieve. By using three O-rings you will not experience any unwelcomed movement or leaks. Increasing the size of the boreholes to 2mm on each of the posts made inserting the coils and final positioning of them so much easier to achieve, and the grub screws for tightening them up were also well made.
The deck houses very good peek insulation and with a 5ml juice well and silver plated copper connection, there is little to find fault with here either, especially when you consider its price and the quality of the machining which you would expect to see on an RDA of a much higher value.
One small point that could be improved upon is the bottom airflow adjustment. Repositioning of the AFC tube, when attached to a device, is possible when you turn it clockwise against the devices 510 threading. However, turning it counter clockwise just loosens the RDA and fails to achieve the desired effect.
Also, when the RDA is separated, you have no purchase area to make any positional adjustment either. So, an extended base with a nerling section directly below AFC tube would make this a far simpler operation to perform.
I think it would also be preferable and more aesthetically pleasing to incorporate the silicon plug on the inside of the airflow inlet for single coil builds rather than placing it on the outside.
That just about wraps this review up other than to say I’d love to see a wider version of it with the improvement I have just mentioned plus copper and Brass editions included in the lineup!
Quite simply, worth every penny or cent depending on where you live!
RRP around £24.00-$30.00
